  • Looking for a basic, light BC-12D (or similar)

    Hi Everyone,

Apologies for my first post on the forum being me wanting something. Hopefully I can contribute meaningfully in future.

I'm looking for a basic aircraft to complete my training in, build time and for my daughter to earn her license in too at the right time (she's 13 and super-keen). I'm in Denver and my CFI has a bunch of time in Taylorcraft.

I'm looking for a basic, light BC-12D (or A65 or C-85-powered aircraft). I'm 165lbs and my instructor is around 200lbs, so we think it could work even at these elevations.

I prefer something in the $10k range (don't we all) but happy to consider whatever is available. The closer to Colorado the better, but we will ferry from wherever for the right aircraft.

I don't really care about cosmetics...unless they affect airworthiness (obviously).

I'm OK with something that may need some work over time, but is otherwise solid.

I'm aware of the aircraft that are listed on Barnstormers, Trade-A-Plane and Facebook.

Does anyone know of an aircraft that might fit the bill that's not listed online?

    Thanks for your time.

Nothing wrong with looking for a plane in your first post. A LOT of guys start that way! Good luck with your search and pop on here when you get a potential plane for things to look for. You will probably get a better plane here since we all know each other and each others planes. Less surprises!

            Hi Everyone,

I've found an aircraft and will introduce myself in another thread.

I didn't end up going with the one that Tim recommended due to the one I bought being extremely convenient to me here in Denver. However, if anyone is looking for one, I highly recommend the one Tim recommends. I don't think you would find a better deal at the price. It's ready to go and needs nothing.

            Cheers
            Glenn

Can't wait to see some photos of your new family member! Taylorcrafts are funny. Everyone looks for a light one. One of the few things in life you want to pay more to get less! (WEIGHT!)

It was a smooth, quick flight back to Hot Springs
