Antony, how are you fixed for other parts? Are you wanting to build up a flying plane? We need to get you out of the guest status and start collecting parts for a full build.

Hi Ming, let me know if 7615 or Hank have taken you up on the fuselage. If they haven't I'm game - Norman

I have my 45 in restoration now so I won't be competing for the fuselage. I do have parts if others need them, WAY MORE than my hangar can hold if I get ready to put wings on the 45! I am in Virginia Beach VA and historically the cost of shipping is a huge problem, but anyone with a truck let me know when you want to drop in! We need to get more T's flying!

How do you ship something like a fuselage to Uruguay?

There are (or were) kits for putting in RH brakes. My 41 doesn't have them and the 45 has a welded in set from the factory. The kits were clamped to the tubes under the floor. The 45 (with the welded in system) is all open and under restoration, so if you can get approval for copying it you could build a welded in RH brakes, copying mine. I WOULD NOT go down that path unless you get it approved in advance! I can also dig around and see if I have the drawings for the kit in my files. Again, it would NOT be a factory kit so you need to make sure you can get it approved before you start modifying your plane. Third option is there is an STC for hydraulic brakes that you can buy and put in. Requires some gear and wheel changes too but eliminates a lot of rigging problems with the cable brakes.

On the other question I only have two props, one is on the 41 (wood) and the other is for the 45 (metal). Not a lot of "extra" props around and unfortunately they are expensive. If it makes a difference, I DO like the wood prop better. I know the metal prop is faster and generally better performance, doesn't stop turning so fast (to get a shot at a restart if you accidentally shut off the fuel) and is supposed to be smoother. I still just love the feel of the wood prop.

Hank, shipp a fuselage to any country is very easy. Crating in a wood box, and shipped by sea freight consolidated in a container.
No cheap, but is the way.-

It actually was a serious question. I have had several people wanting parts but the shipping often exceeded the value of the part (even when the part was free!) The only way I could see to ship a whole fuselage to Uruguay was in a crate by ship, which would cost a FORTUNE! It is a shame there isn't a better way. Thanks for a serious answer.

It all depends upon your definition of expensive. I had a 8 x 4 foot pallet airfreighted from Aircraft Spruce in the USA to me in the UK last year (4 sheets of 45 degree plywood) and the crating & shipping charge was about $400.00, which I thought was reasonable! The total weight of the pallet & plywood was about 250lb.

(I kept the timber from the pallet!)

I have estimated a sea freight of aprox. 1000 dollars, more 22% of import tax and 15% of other charges more or less to Uruguay.-
More truck to port and export charges.- With a free fuselage, I can take this cost.
