Watch out for old batteries. There are a bunch of people selling batteries that are over age. Had one sent to me that the seller tried to say the expiration date was the build date! i don't think so!!!! It said RIGHT ON THE BATTERY expiration date!

Seems like I saw one in the hangar next to where my T is, I'll be out there Monday after work and check on it, I still have one in my T, been there since 1977, works so simple all it ever needs is batteries, and they get more expensive every 2 years, ACS is around $ 43 or something like that, gary

What is aggravating is I cut open one of the old batteries and it is nothing but a stack of flashlight batteries soldered in series. You could make one up for under $10! All they did was form a pack around them with potting compound. They don't even put a connector on the wires, just use a couple of wire nuts! It is highway robbery!

What is a shame is we can't make them as "Owner Produced". I could make up a pack just as good (or better) in a rainy afternoon! Shame an IA can't sign off on one of these batteries.

I kept the old batteries from my ELT after each change. Not one has gone dead! at least one is older than yours. Over ten years and still kicking but we have to change them every two years. If the cost was reasonable I wouldn't mind and would just take the old cells out (if they weren't potted into place) and use them up in a flash light. There SHOULD be a way to make a battery holder and just replace the cells at each annual with dated new batteries. Someone is "following rules" that were made bu someone else who had no idea what they were doing.
