  • Tcraft sheet metal

Does anyone have any information about the sheet metal for a 1941 T craft? I am going to attempt to form the boot cowl (and possibly other FF sheet metal). I need to know if the aluminum is 2024-O clad or 2024-t3 also is the thickness 0.025 or 0.032? FAA says it has to be the same as the original. Any info would be helpful, thanks.

This should be an interesting conversation. I need to get a cold drink. ;-)

3003-H14 .032, no 2024 in 1941...24st maybe...and you will need a bead roller with a crimper, a 1/8" radius round bead, and possibly a joggle beader. I have them all and its not fun. Also measure from the firewall to the front of the door, top and bottom and see what your measurements are. I had to redo mine 3 times because it was not the same. My pilots and copilots door mounts are different by 3/8". Tim

Oh and no FAA in 1941, use CAA rules....

AW JEEZE Tim! You just took all the fun out of it. I was looking forward to people quoting aluminum alloys that didn't exist when Taylorcraft built them. ;-)
