  • Landing gear Jig and damaged gear - last chance

I have a landing gear jig (left & right side) and a handful of damaged gears to be repaired. If you are within driving distance of zip 27591 you can have them for pittance.

I also have new materials for the repairs but I want sell those.

My Tcart has rigid gear, and I have been thinking about trying to get some "suspension" aka bungees or something on it so my kids can learn to fly in it. But I'm not sure how to go about it. I don't want to hijack this thread, maybe I should post a new topic. But this part of the project is a ways out.

I don't want to hijack the thread, but I restored a clip wing with solid gear. It wasn't to bad on the 6.00x6 tires. The Swick control system allows for the bungees to stay in place.

My 45 is uncovered and on the gear so everything is out in the open and easy to see. California is kind of far to come to see in person, but photos only inconvenience a few billion electrons. ;-) If you need photos or measurements let me know and if I don't already have them I can take some.

Thanks Hank, I don't need pictures right at the moment. I have plenty to do first before tackling a gear modification. I'm also thinking of building another set of wings and am not sure if the struts I have are "stock" or have been shortened with the clip wing modification. So I might ask for lots of pictures. I was a little surprised at how heavy the wings are. I think the shortened wing has all the ribs still in it but just moved closer together.

3Dreaming, I have 6.00x6's on it. How many G's do you think it would take to break something on the rigid gear? The guy I bought the plane from (who happens to be a "big iron" IA mechanic for a major airline) said that I should watch it and no rough landings as it's only an AN bolt holding the gear from collapsing. Which doesn't make it real easy for me to do short or rough field landings, as I find a little burst of power right before touch down helps smooth the sink rate, but extends the roll out quite a bit. With the center stick he said there is no room for bungees. But then I recognize that's not really the intention of a Tcart and I might be trying to make it do more than it's designed for.
