Looking to find some cowling fasteners for a 1946 L2. They are the ones that look like a key, there's a spring that goes over the long portion of the "key" with washers on each end that keep the spring on. Am looking for a full set to be able to attach cowling. Any assistance would be appreciated. thx Chris

Re: Wanted, Cowling Fasteners for 1946 L2
There was someone who had some made years ago, but unfortunately he is no longer with us. You are probably going to have to source the parts yourself. Someone with a water jet CNC could make quick work of the key part. A spring manufacture could handle the spring if you have an old one to go off of. The pins will be easy to cut. The cups will be the hardest part.

They are called Boeing fasteners which may help your search and what Tom above advised is, unfortunately, true. No new ones being made at this time to my knowledge.Cheers,

Taylorcraft Team,
Besides a 46 T-craft, I'm restoring a 37 Aeronca K. Pre-war Aeronca's also used the "Boeing" fastener - attached is their 1-197 source control drawing.Attached Files

Where did you find a 1946 L2? I have a spare set or two that were made by Dick Huish and if I can find them, I'll try to post a picture. If I remember.Bob Picard

Bob,
Correct. I am working on multiple projects. A 1946 Taylorcraft BC-12D and a 1937 Aeronca K.
