ID:	190350 The photo of Mark Bowdens glove box door handle got me hunting (always seem to get distracted by interesting details). I found one of the chrome plated handles with the ridges like Mark has and can make copies if someone wants to go that way. I need to prototype one when I do my next pour. Always want to use ALL of the resin when I mix it. WAY too expensive to waste some in the cup!

OK, while working on other cast parts I made some molds for things like the alternate glove box handles. I have some that worked and will be able to cast some more. I changed them a little by adding some thickness so they don't warp in a hot cockpit but they look the same. will post some photos next.

I know Hank. Perhaps for the guys that wnt the earlier ones that perhaps looked like chrome(never saw that except the picture posted could paint these with a chrome finish plastic cover paint (are those really original?) Any way I know these are exact for a 46 anyway

The smooth later glove box handles are available from the antique car guys so I focused on the earlier ones with the chrome finish. A big problem with ALL of them is they will warp in a hot car or cockpit because the plastic is so thin. I have increased the thickness of the wall to stop that and the early ones also were attached with a plastic sprue that was held from the inside. Those broke off pretty easy where the later ones had a threaded hole for a screw from the back. The sprue and screws were NOT the same distance apart so I made the area for both wider so the new handles can go on doors with either width holes drilled in it. The one I have is chrome on plastic (like the bumpers in some old model car kits). There are some paint finishes that replicate chrome pretty well. Some need t be clear coated as they look just like chrome when put on but turn grey like bare aluminum if you touch the paint. Something in our hands seems to oxidize the paint. We had a guy in the Tribe who was making better throttle knobs than I was but I haven't heard from him for a while and he sold his T. I have cast a pre 41 knob for Josh's plane (being restored) that has a circular flat spot on the face fro the text. The first one will be painted black since I am still trying to find the best dye for the clear resin I am using.
Still have NO feel for what these things will be worth when available.

As an aside, I have made two prototype inside door handles for the 41 Deluxe. One is up in Canada on a plane to see how it holds up and a second one has a steel rod in the resin to make it stronger. I can't find the name and address of the person who was going to get the second one! If you read this, shoot me a message! If these two work out i will have molds ready to make inside door handles. This is NOT the curved handle for a 46! I am still looking for a broken one to make a mold from. If you have one of the later ones I can make a mold from let me know. I had a bunch of them but since they weren't used on a 41 or a 45 I have given them all away. It DOES NOT have to be an airworthy one! I can make a mold even if it is broken in two. The one I need is the TOP one in the photo, the one that is ready to
test is on the bottom. The one in the middle is a replica of the 41 Deluxe outside handle and it was a BEAR to make!!! It is actually skinned in aluminum and polished.
