  • Deluxe trim

I've had this deluxe trim for several years. I had planned to install the trim on my 41 restoration, but I just didn't get around to it. So I'm going to offer the the pieces in the photos up for sale. There are extra side pieces and no lower nose cowl grill. If your intrested make a offer and please contact me with any questions.

Definitely looking for the side trim and also need a LH grill complete... I have one that was cut. Are you trying to sell it as a complete set or would be willing to part any out? Hard question I know.

Notice some of these are drilled for screws. Odd thing is my boot cowl isn't. So wondering how these were attached at the factory.

I have a good RH grill, two lower nose grills and several original-manufacture stamped inserts. Could be willing to work some kind of trade.

          Thanks! For listing.

I have seen some "slip", so I'm not surprised that they are drilled for screws (and indeed, I am not sure that they weren't supposed to be; more edumicated folk will chime in I'm sure).

As to value, they are worth what the parties agree to, but I'd suggest as a set, it's worth a lot more to those who want to restore to "as near" original as possible. These don't become available very often. Occasionally the lower nose cast grille (the rectangular sump cooling air intake) comes available.

If I were the seller, I'd stick for selling as a set.

I'm not in the market to buy these, so I have no vested interest. The above is just my opinion.

The holes in the long pieces were something done by someone to keep them from coming off. They were originally held in with wire clips that didn't hold as well as I would want. I made rectangular brass pieces that slid in from the ends (note the spaces at the ends to slip the wire pieces in) with a hole for a low profile bolt. I thin used the bolt with a nut and safety to hold them to the cowl. I used elastic lock nuts in the boot cowl and cotter pins in the engine cowl for the nuts.

One of these days I still plan to make a mold to cast graphite epoxy replicas. Just way down on the list. Probably do the lower grill first since they seem to be least available. If you mix graphite into the epoxy you can even plate the "plastic" grills. I just used Epoxy appliance paint (Stainless Steel color) and painted my parts. Even looks good on the polished grills (at least the grills match the side pieces now).

                Bill,
I don't think that I should break the set up. As I said, I've had this set for quite some time and it's time to offer the whole thing up as a package.I know it's not quite a full set not having the intake grill however its still a nice package. I think I'll just wait to see if someone wants to make a offer. It would be nice if someone wants to dress up a Dekuxe.
                Thanks,
                Norm G
