    Mike,
What kind of repair are you talking about?

I have an old one you could "repair" (but it has the wing tip light). Yours free but not until September.

Mike, I may be able to help but not home for another week yet. Like Rob, no charge if you need it to get back in the air. I believe it is in good shape. Kind of spotty access to email this week while camping in the UP, but send me a note.

Just to clarify, I have a 1940 BC-12 with BC12-D wings, so I need the post war. Here is a partial pic.

              Rob,

Yes, though just for looks/symmetry. I wont be using it.

It may be important, only because the bows with lights were "flattened" slightly, so that the wingspan was the same with the lights on the end. Urban legend perhaps.

Don't throw yours away...the C-section brackets that attach to the spars are the valuable bits. The little cylindrical tube in your photo was probably a factory jigging point. When I made my new ones, I made that small tube a large threaded photo mount, but you can't do that in the US without approval.

I re-made my bows with thin-wall EMT in the proper bow shape (no lights), which is why my old ones (slightly flat but with light fittings) are sitting in my loft.

For reference, I attach a very poor drawing of the wing tip jig I made to make new bows under Owner Produced Parts (this was some time ago, so apologies for the image quality)

                  Thanx for the info Rob.

If Mike Jones part is useable, I will go that route. If not, I will rebuild this one re-using those channel sections and new tubing. First, I will try welding a tie rod (prewar style) about halfway out the chord and see if that stiffens the kinked section enough to reuse the existing. I think it will. The kink is completely contained within the light socket housing.

Maybe you can find a body shop with a nail gun. A little heat from a torch with a small welding tip you should be able to remove the kink. Marv
