I'm considering one. Paint is fair, fabric is good, interior is fair to good, cowling is bare and needs paint. Engine is low time but few recent hours in the last 15 years. I rarely see any Dc-65s for sale. L2s seem to go pretty high in good shape, $35k to $45k when in good shape, I'm guessing DC-65s go for much less. This one could be had for around $20k, but I have no idea if that is reasonable or not.

Re: What is a DC-65 worth?
Steve,
If you are talking about Chet Peek's airplane, It is worth that. It is an early s/n DC-65 never military. It has the aluminum spar if I remember correctly and is very light. I have been told by many that the "fastback" models are the best fliers and faster than the L-2 greenhouse models. I believe Tom Baker restored it in the 1980s. I had a chance to visit Chet and go through the airplane with him back in 2010. At the time he was still flying it three or so times a week. I think he was 90 years old at the time.

Tom. Maybe I misunderstood. My memory ain't what it used to be but I'm pretty sure your name (or your dad's) came up in the conversation... but maybe it was about something else. My apologies for the confusion.Terry Bowden, formerly TF # 351
