I apologize if I missed it in this discussion but from what I can tell is that the Deluxe model just has some extra appealing visual touches I.e. The trim on the cowl going back to the doors? Does a Deluxe qualify as LSA?

I learned to fly in a 7AC Champ, my instructor was a P-38 ace from WW2, he smoked all the time, when flying, I still remember him asking me to do a turn or something, I would, he'd lean over my shoulder, blow smoke toward me (make me choke) an say "some fun, hey kid?", I miss those days, gary

Lots of little differences on the deluxe in 41, but the immediate recognition features would be the flush cowl fasteners, Stainless side trim, cast grills, ridiculously complex instrument panel with "regular" instruments instead of the BIG tach, NO round control wheels, "D" window behind the doors, TWO doors, wheel pants (originally, but most were removed), wing tank on the right, wired for lights with a battery box (that was not hooked up on delivery), carpet, trim tab instead of a "flipper", compass was standard (can you believe that a compass was an OPTION prior to the war?) and the "Deluxe DuoTone" colors on the interior and exterior.

There might have been a few more, but those are the first that come to mind.

            Chris,

It should still be LSA unless someone has upped the gross weight past LSA rules.
            Cheers,
            Marty

Its always fun to learn all the little differences! I use to own a 46 BC12-D and had a weak moment and sold it. I am now on the hunt for another Taylorcraft and would like for it to be LSA.

                Chris,

Great to hear, many are out there for sale right now. Most are LSA so it shouldn't be too difficult. Good luck and hope to see you around here on the forum!
                Cheers,
                Marty
