Re: Wanted: Pilot side window
There is no such thing as a standard door, some were wood, some aluminum and some are steel tube frame, so what is your doors made from? There is an IA there named Alan Rickman, great guy to get to know. He is real good with antique airplanes. It might be worth it for you to introduce yourself to him. Tim

Re: Wanted: Pilot side window
There is a picture of Rob's plane on the thread looking for rear "D" window frames. If that is the door you have it took sliders. Like John said, pretty easy to make with a tracing of the original. Lowe's aircraft supply carries the plexi material and it is cheap. A neat trick is to use the "woolly" part from Velcro to slide the window in. Works better than the original felt that just wore through quickly making for hard to open windows.

Make sure to have the REAR window on the inside. The other way around and you get wet if you hit any rain. If you glue a piece of Plexi dowel to the front end of the rear window it is much easier to open and close and you don't have unsightly palm prints all over it from trying to get it to slide. Only needs to be a fraction of an inch long to be able to push it.
