L2 Shock Cord tool

I've got a L2 almost ready to take flight. I am trying to find a shock cord tool that I can use to put the new bungee's on. It's not the traditional tool in that the end of the strut is much wider. Any thoughts?

I also need one. Does anyone have a drawing of one with dimensions? How about a picture of one? I have been trying to locate one for months with no success

There was a tool that you could make using a long jack and some fittings. I bought one from a guy who had built one, but some of the parts were made from too thin a gauge of steel and could have hurt someone. There were pictures somewhere, perhaps on here, of what one looked like. Totally different from a BC-12, obviously. I hope someone with experience with a good tool will pop up here for you.

WE have the factory tool here in Alliance , used it for first time in a year two days ago. When I figure how to post a picture I will do so. Ryan ??? help.

I had the pleasure of visiting Forrest Barber at Alliance a few weeks ago and took several pictures of the tool used to put the shock cords on at the factory that he now has.

I have taken pictures with and without a yard stick to give you a sense of scale. As it is installed in the door of the hangar, it is on a block and tackle arrangement, but Forrest suggests that an engine hoist could do the job of stretching the cords equally as well. If you email me at [email protected], I'll send you the pictures.

One of my guys tried to make the tool that didn't work quite right and thinks his mistake was that he didn't use large enough round stock that would allow an easy transfer of the cords off of the tool onto the shock cord mount. You may want to consider this.

We will toy with this a bit and perhaps loan it out or provide drawings when we have it perfected.

I actually finished up his shock struts and have two more being shipped here for me to install. The tool needs a lot of fore thought when using it , I ahve a shop sketch of one that we may develop here and ahve available for sale . Late Fall is good for me, too darn busy earlier in the year. We ahve many new friends of Taylorcraft stopping by and they can help out.
