T-craft to USAAF serial number conversion formulas -- updated

I reworked/corrected the conversion formulas to convert Taylorcraft serial numbers to USAAF serial numbers. The original work by Larry Wilson was good but didn't address the multiple batches of USAAF numbers associated with the L-2A nor did it address the 100 L-2As that were included within the L-2M contract. I've also added the respective military contract numbers (these should be on the military dataplate) and their associated signing and completion dates. If you see any errors/omission, please let me know so I can update the file

I can answer your question, note 3, about CN 4055. It was a civilian airplane and was assigned an N number at the factory. I have the N number, but will have to look it up in my notes at the hangar and get back to you with it. Apparently they had a civilian buyer during the military run and pulled it out of the line up.

Do you have the book, "U.S. Military Aircraft Designations and Serials 1909 too 1979." It's a great book, but hard to come by.

I have extensive records on L birds that compares and connects the civilian and military serial numbers and also the N numbers if they were ever recorded. During the 1980's when I first discovered liaison airplanes, I spent many days and hours gathering this information from the FAA in Oklahoma City. In those days, their records were still all on paper and security concerns were less. The FAA records for all airplanes with N numbers were recorded on 3 x 5 cards and stored in rows of cabinets. I got access to the files and copied the information from the cards. I have a stack of hand written notes about and inch thick with the information. Unfortunately they are not digitized so are hard to share. If anyone has questions about a specific airplane, I would be glad to pass it on.
