  • A yellow L2M?

i volunteered to cover Kent’s wings - only if he lets me do them AN Yellow. He is a stickler for authentic schemes, and I am in favor of being able to see who is in the same airspace as me.

hopefully there is at least one yellow military prototype? Please? Orange might be ok, I guess . . .

It is almost done. 140 yellow-orange wings, tail. Pearl grey fuselage with one red campaign stripe. All that is left is gear legs, some cowl and strut paint, and re-assembly. Kent really wanted ugly olive drab, but couldn’t turn down all the free labor.

But question on the gear legs - I wanted tires and brakes off, but Kent couldn’t get the Phillips machine screws out of the torque plate. Is there a secret? Heat to dislodge the Loctite? Current plan is to just recover with the torque plates on.

Also - I suppose we are just going to get a standard bearing puller for the inner wheel bearings, but open to suggestions. You guys do this all the time, but my experience stops with Hayes and Cleveland wheels.

      Oh - I promise photos!

You might have to use a hammer impact for the screws on the brake plates. If you replace them IIRC the countersink is a different angle that a standard countersunk screw. If you need some new screws just ask on the general discussion or wanted section, and someone will probably have some they can send you. I think you normally have to buy 100 just to get them, because they are special order.

The inner wheel bearings should just pop out, but sometimes the retainer/seal can be a little tight. It is just soft aluminum and slight press fit into place.
