  • Need Picture of L-2 Bungee Arrangement

I have been looking, but cannot find, a picture of the bungee cord arrangement for the L-2 landing gear strut. Thanks in advance.
    Cheers,
    Marty

      Gary,

I've seen this one, actually the bungees don't go on top of one another. There are two separate locations, one for each bungee. I could not remember how they were arranged until I went out and looked at the removed strut from my friend's plane. They got them on and arranged correctly. I will have my friend send the picture he took.
      Cheers,
      Marty

I watched that video but it seemed like lots of work without a dedicated tool.

I'm still wondering why I've never seen an L-2 in Alaska? I've mentioned that before but it would seem they'd be laying around like old Pipers and Champs. Regardless of what was, today there are fewer and fewer private flyers up here as the young can't afford to start and the general older pilot can't afford to keep them flying. Maybe they all migrated south to warmer places to be hangared and enjoyed.

First post. Helping the Alaska Wing of the CAF work on an L2M. We have a different landing gear and wondering if this is standard? It it a series of stacked rubber donuts. Should we consider changing to a bungee set up?

I've seen some with that set-up. I don't know of any service information about the donut struts. If they are in good shape I'd use them.

I think that Porterfields had that set up too. Google Porterfield and you will find various clubs and orgs that have info and one was selling the donuts.

It has to be some type of modification, I have never seen that on a Taylorcraft.

Looks like where it comes from.
Think we will start searching for the stock gear with bungees
