  • SS Drag Wires

I know SS drag/anti-drag wires are available for the B models but I have not seen them for the L-2 or D-model. Does anyone know a source? Or has anyone gotten approval for them? I've got 3 L-2's to restore so it should be worthwhile to set up to make them, assuming I can get approval for stainless. I'd like to think that with the original drawings getting material substitution approval shouldn't be too hard. But if it's already been done I'd prefer to take advantage of it. I'm also looking for new nipples. A lot of mine have seen better days. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Burls aircraft can make drag wires of any length, if not try Brunton. Univair carries the spoke nuts, stainless maybe a challenge to get approved since its structural if it is not already. Tim

You have 3 to do? Do you want to come up and buy me out of my parts?

Actually 3 and a half. I have 4 N-numbers but missing 1 fuselage. I'm really not trying to corner the market on L-2 parts. I started with one basket case and went looking for jury struts for it. Found a guy who was attempting to restore 3 at once but had decided to trash one fuselage. He wanted to move on to other things so instead of just buying his extra jury struts I took it all. I did make an attempt to find an observer fuselage but kept getting offered full projects. I wouldn't mind rounding up from 3.5 to 4 projects if I can find just a fuselage. I think 3 (or 4) are enough retirement projects to have on deck. Yeah, it's crazy to say that 3.5 is OK but 4.5 is too much but I need to draw a line before the spousal unit does it for me.

I don;t have any good fuselages unless you want to buy our yo-57 project. I do have a bunch of small parts and wing parts. got most everything but struts and good cowling.

            One of mine is also a YO-57, s/n 4008, the 1st of the 4. Also have a former TG-6, an L-2A with a turtle deck fuselage & L-2B that needs a fuselage.
