  • Bungee Replacement

    Hi Guy's,
I'm new to the site. have a 42, L-2a. I just got the bird and am doing some replacing of worn parts. I have all new bungees and a tool. I can can see how to replace the inner bungee (small shoulder) but not the large shoulder. Can anyone point me in the right direction for drawings or photos of the process. As we know the L-2 is different from the other T-craft model bungees. any info would help. Thx.

    Re: Bungee Replacement

    Hello capn carp,

Welcome! We try to be friendly!

Be patient with responses on the L2 section of this site; but there are a few very experienced folk here who will chime in when they see you post.

      Re: Bungee Replacement

      Welcome,

I used to have an L-2B and replaced the bungees, but it was a bear and many, many years ago. The tool was cobbled together and a bit dangerous. I do not remember techniques, but hopefully someone will chime-in. Could you please post a picture of your tool as a friend of mine has an 'M'-model that needs bungees, but we don't have a good source or picture of a tool. Thanks!
      Cheers,
      Marty

        Marty,

Do you have a bungee tower that you could loan to use as a model?

I have an L2 tool that has worked but is not elegant or easy.

A model to work with would help to make it better.

Could install the bungees and send back you?

        Dave

          Re: Bungee Replacement

Sorry, David, I don't have any L-2 parts anymore. Contact Mike Redpath, (Ragwing Nut), and see if he has anything.
          Cheers,
          Marty

Hi Carp. Take a look at this old video an see if it helps. Also would you mind posting a picture of the tool you are using on the L2?

I have a tool I built, but would be easier to to send your struts than ship the tool.

                  Mike,

I have a guy here with a Museum and one of the L-2's Dick Huish restored. They have the room and the resources to build a tool. If at all possible, can you share what you have? Thanks!
                  Cheers,

                      Hi Mack,

Where did you get that, I notice a possible manufacture sticker on it? Thanks for the pictures.
                      Cheers,

                            Thanks, Mack.

Update, the phone number is no longer in service and it appears they may no longer be around.

                              Hi Mack,
Thx for the videos. Unfortunely the cub gear is different from the L-2. I don't have a pic of my bungee tool. It is store bought, long screw operated type. I'll try to post pics of it later. I now have an engineer friend designing and building one. I'll also post that. To bad the L-2 bungee setup is so much different than the Cub.
                              Carp,
