  • Anyone Making Boeing Fasteners?

A buddy of mine had a Boeing fastener break on his L-2M today. His A&P/IA is planning on making one but asked me if there was anyone reproducing them now. I remember Dick Huish used to but not sure if anyone else is. Thanks!

I don't recall hearing of any new ones being made in the last few years. This would be a good project for someone with a water jet.

There is a guy here who cuts steel and aluminum on a CNC cutter. Do you have a drawing or can you sketch/trace one? I can take it down to him and ask how much he would want to make a box of them. He does really nice work.

Well, though I am not a 'metal' guy even I could make one. However, it is all the other bits and pieces that would be extremely difficult to make. There is a metal cup and smaller metal 'cups', almost like washers, that would be very difficult to replicate that I did not take a picture of. The small pin and spring would be relatively easy. Luckily the tab pictured above broke on the ground, if in-flight all of the hard-to-make pieces would be gone.
