  • Fabric covering the horizontal stab attach bolt ends

I have a question about installing the horizontal stab attach bolts. Now that I've covered my horizontal stabs, there is no access to put the nuts on the ends of the bolts. Should I cut a small hole in the fabric? How was this done originally?

Originally a doped patch to cover the hole. On mine I put in an extra layer of fabric and used a half dollar sized cover with a screw and a clip on the back. loosen the screw and slide the cover off.

I welded a nut to the inside of the tubing,,,,then just bolted it together. Tim

I doped in an extra layer of ceconite in the corner, very small cut-out to hold the nut while tightening, then a doped patch over the hole. That's the way it was done originally.

That is correct ; a few in the beginning Model A had an oblong grommet there on the bottom that was left open .
