Re: Interior colors for the '41 Deluxe

I REALLY should have started a thread when I started making mine, but I honestly thought I would whip it out in a week at best. The first one took many MONTHS to get right! I think I could do the next one in a couple of weeks, but am kind of glad I won't need to. ;-)

I would be glad to work with someone who wants to do it and we could do an instructional thread with all the steps. It wasn't really that hard. There were just a LOT of really nasty lessons to be learned in making it. I would bet that if I were to make 10 or 12 sets I could get it down to one per day.

Anyone want to make one and do a thread? If there are no volunteers, I WILL be making one more for Josh's plane some day, but you will have to wait. I am looking for a donor 41 fuselage to use as a base for the restoration if anyone knows of a 40 with no papers.

My only question in all this would be, is there any drag penalty with either arrangement? With my Lycoming and no wheel pants I can count on staying some 5-10 mph behind the rest of you even at max cruise. So authenticity aside the last thing I want to do is go through all that just to make my bird slower than it already is. Taylor after all was proud of this design versus the Cub regarding performance efficiency and worked on that from every angle.

Intuitively it would be reasonable to guess that a blown windshield would deflect moving air better than a flat one. Anyone have comparison figures? Just prefer to look before I leap. Sure I can fix it... but it ain't really broke.

Somehow I think C.G. would understand. Just sayin'

Wish I knew, but I haven't flown her yet so I don't know about drag. The flow around the nose and windshield is not really characterized that I know of. It would be fun to tuft the whole nose and see how different the flow is for each windshield. If I start testing everything I want to on the 41 the 45 and Josh's 40 will never get worked on.
Everyone keep their eyes open for an orphaned 40 fuselage for Josh's plane. We need a foundation to mount his parts on since the eBay plane is going to France. By the way, the new owner should be joining soon and is a nice guy. We may need to tap some French speakers to help translate. I am learning French PAINFULLY slow.
