rear window

Hello Taylorcrafters,
I am working on a B model that has a two part metal rear window frame that is constructed like an embroidery hoop. Does the outer hoop get put in and fabriced ,then the inner after? If this is the case can the "glass" be slipped down in back of the tubes later?I also have large plywood side panels for the inside.
I haven't been able to find one quite like it locally. I have the Univair manuals and the Tcraft parts manual, none of which have been much help.
I didn't dismantle this bird and have not worked on a Taylorcraft before. All I have is a big pile of parts and some scraps of fabric,but not much of the fabric. Any help or pics would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks in advance, Larry

I have done the "D" windows with the metal frames (post-war) and the wood frames (pre-war) and they can BOTH be kind of confusing to put in even when you were the one who took them out. That said, your discription leaves me with a bit of a headache.
Do you have an inner stamped metal frame (inner) and two sheet metal pieces kind of "C" shaped (outer), or a wood frame (inner) and two "C" shaped sheetmetal frames (outer)? Is the plane a pre-war or post-war?
I can get you pictures or discriptions on how to put it together, but need to know what you have.
If you can post a picture of what you have it will really simplify things.

Thanks for the reply. Don't know how to send pics to the forum,but can send them to an email recipient if I have your address. Can we do this? As far as I know this is a post war. Don't have the papers here. It has two stamped sheet metal frames that slip together. One is a complete loop. The other is separated (inner). No other metal(unless I don't have it. Larry

Sounds like they might be model 19 windows. If they are,we put fabric on the outside frame. The inner goes in after completed and just screws down. Hope this helps

That helps a lot. That is exactly what we have,but the baggage compartment is completely made of plywood except for the top. Bottom is 1/4" and the rest is 1/16" with wood frames for stiffeners.

There are some on my gallery page (around page 7 or 8 I think...). My Gallery is called Ryan. I don't have a website, but I do have pictures we have taken. Let me know what you need. Out Tcraft is still a 65hp so it does not have the extended baggage. I just used fabric to give it that appearance, open it up, and look nice with the large windows. I left the sling mounts for carrying baggage.
