  • Control Cable Rigging Question....

Anyone have a print or photo that they could share with me on the assembly of the aileron control cables above the headliner - it seemed simple six years ago when I took it apart. The owners manual is not detailed enough. I understand how it works I'm not sure how they tie together.

    Thanks!

    Re: Control Cable Rigging Question....

The cabin crossover and the foward aileron cables are connected together with a 2" link on each and then tied together with a bushing between them. The rear cable also has a link in it as well. Clamp a board to the bottom of the control wheels and clamp the ailerons in neutral to get you started tightening up the cables, then adjust from there. BTW nice color combo on your T-craft. I did one just opposite of that 10 years ago.

      Thanks Mike!

I'll have to locate the bushings - that's the missing link in my puzzle. I didn't remember the bushings.

I post some work in progress photos next week. I hope to be flying in a week or two.

          Re: Control Cable Rigging Question....

I just rigged my aileron cables this afternoon...so please ask if I can help with photos & stuff.

There are if you like three circuits in the aileron mechanism:

          1. The forward fuselage cables...i.e. those connecting the yokes & sprockets to the wing cables.

          2. The wing actuating cables...attached to (1) with the 2" link referred to by Mike and in Terry's photo

          3. The balance cable, The "rear cable" that Mike refers to, and also shown in Terry's photo. It is in lieu of balance weights in rod-controlled ailerons, if that helps.

Each is pretty much independent, in that I have rigged mine so that the yokes are central, the aileron stops on the left hand sprocket are central, and the correct cable tensions and aileron "droop" of 1/4" is all there at the same time.

Took an hour or two, mind!

Soon I can just sit back and watch it all work!! Great pictures and descriptions. Thanks to all that contribute. Sometimes instead of the bushings, washers work too!!
