So to prove the nose bowl wouldn't deform from air loads they wanted him to fail the windscreen, wing attach, stabs and tail and wing control surfaces. Yea, that makes sense. There are some great people at the FAA. There are also some real escapees from mental institutions. He was lucky his plane didn't break up mid air.

I have LOTS of faith in my plane, I also have lots of faith in the Lord, but I don't want a face to face real soon! ;-) Our planes are not getting old, they ARE old, and pushing one over 30% past the VNE sounds like a great way to get up and personal with our maker. There was lots of safety margin when they were designed, but how much of it has been used up by unseen damage? I think I will stay well below 140 and enjoy my plane as long as possible. Found too many things with hidden damage in the rebuild!
