Hi all, Does anyone know the sizes or have a print of the Jury Struts? Looking for the Shape, width & length and over all length (center of hole to center of hole)
I toe in 1/8" at 18" forward of the axle. You also need to use a plumb bob and get the centerline of the airframe off of the center of the prop and the tail wheel. I used a big piece of 1.5" schedule 40 pipe, hold the airplane down and reef on the gear until I got it where it needs to be. I have done this on 4 airplanes now and they all track nice and don't want to dart off the runway when you land. tim
Hi all, Installed the wings and can not get the wash (1 5/16") out of the left wing, The strut adjustment is all the way in! The Struts are new from Univair Aircraft. Does anyone have any suggestion?
Thanks Steve
I might suggest that length be much shorter than letting the gear collapse almost to the strut. The wing tip will be on the ground long before that, which is what must be avoided as well as keeping the prop well clear of the ground.
Since you are in re-assembly process, as a test before you put the bunees on perhaps you could report back on how much the tip & prop drops when just supported by the cable length as described in the previous threads. It shouldn't be that much.
That's right Mark, forgot about the wingtip first, I have a board with pegs on it from an article long ago, just replaced my cables and lowered it down to make sure they were the right length, and Steve I sent you a PM, gary
Hi Gary, did you happen to measure how much it lowered the wing tip? It would be good to know if you did please.
Thanks, Mark.
I just looked at the tip and the gear, seems like the tip was still between 1 1/2 and 2 feet off the ground and the gear was a couple hands away from the strut, all will be well as long as you don't get into uneven ground or a ditch, gary
