      Of all the pictures I have I only see wheel pants on airplanes that have tailwheels. and I would assume brake. The airplanes with skids didn't seem to have wheel pants.

        Hi You Guys!
        Funny this topic just came up recently. Starting to clean out my collection of old airplane parts and found the 3 in 1 cluster gauge that I had had overhauled by Keystone back in January of 2005.....!
        Posted a little about it back then. Well, it has been sitting in the same box that they returned it in, in a cabinet in my room for the last 17 years. Trying to figure a fair price on it. They were pretty dear back then.
        Keystone replaced the oil temp sensor bulb, and overhauled the whole unit. Has a very good tach drive cable and a good copper oil pressure line. The oil pressure end connection to the instrument needs a reducer fitting. Will post pics when I figure out how. ;-)

        Also have a Sensenich wood prop. W72CK42 . Will fit many models of the Continental powered ships. Doesn't look like it's been used. Make an offer...

              Any more info of any kind on this plane? The NC number (19644) doesn't fit in to the database and isn't in the FAA data either. Was the photo dated in any way?

                Yes, September 1937 like I said in the post. The picture is from the alliancememory.org site.

                  I saw what was on the original post but I was hoping someone would have some more info. After 19644 the next plane in my database is 19672 which is on page 40 of Chet's book. The next plane I have is the first Model A which was 19757. Prior to 19644 the closest plane I have is 19555 which is a 37 J-2 that looks like she was switched from being called a Taylor to a Piper (happened to a lot of planes when Piper and Taylor split up and Piper claimed manufacture with the CAA). It could be that Piper switched the manufacturers name on19644 too so she doesn't show up correctly. Seems that when Piper serviced early Taylorcraft planes that were built when Piper and Taylor were partners Piper simply changed the manufacturer in the paperwork. I have a feeling there may be a few "Pipers" out there that the owners don't know are really Taylor/Pipers!

                    Hank, 1937 J2 would not have been switched from a Taylor to a Piper. Taylor was working on the Taylorcraft in 1936 after he was pushed out by Piper. By 1937 the Taylorcraft was in production. Here is an A model from January 1937.

                      Tom, that's NC-15757! I have these two other photos of her. Any more info on this plane? I can't even find her SN or CN. Lots of planes got scrambled up when Piper and Taylor split. What I was told was that Piper provided a lot of maintenance on planes and it was common for them to get the manufacturer name changed to Piper only even though they were built as Taylor young or any of the other earlier names used.
