Gary is spot on. Take LOTS of photos and post them when you have a question. There ARE NO DUMB QUESTIONS! The Taylorcraft has a LOT of differences from the later "Spam Can" planes from Cessna and Piper. Some things seem really strange until you see the 1940s logic. The guys here LOVE to study photos and spot things that aren't quite right. It isn't picking on your plane, it is making all of our planes better and safer. I will be checking my plane for a tight mag to plug lead that was seen on a photo of my engine compartment next time out. I never saw it in the HUNDREDS of times I looked in there! I am forever grateful for EVERY problem anyone catches on my plane! The day will come soon when you start seeing things others have missed. It is a great part of this group.

      PA1195 and astjp2 nailed it.
The bungee box is missing. The mechanic had taken it off to insect the bungees.
The sling had been replaced, but the owner had kept the old sling pieces in case he needed it as a pattern.
The annual should be completed around Oct 9, so I can finally get the plane out of the hanger and really get my hands dirty.
Things are going slowly, but they are going.
