  • Instrument panel clock?

    History question.

Has anyone ever seen where the factory put a clock in the panel? It would seem that there would have been a lot of 8 day clocks as surplus after the war.

Or did they just assume everyone had a wrist watch to navigate with ? Seems L2's or Auster's didn't get one either.

    Thanks, Mark

The Deluxe had a clock that was opposite the ashtray. It wasn't an 8 day, it was a standard 24 hour clock that looked too close to an altimeter. There is a pic of one in Chet's book. I have the ashtray, but not the clock.

I see no mention of a clock in the equipment list and I can't find a picture of a clock in Chet's book. Do you have a page number where the picture of the clock is shown?

not without looking at the book, but its in the 1940-41 chapter where the deluxe is covered. there is a pic of the panel that partially covers the clock up on the bottom left, abd you can clearly see the altimeter on the top.
