0-200 prop

Looking for a prop for my 0-200 on my F-19, I have searched the ATC 1A9 and see the McCauley 1A105/ SCM 6950 and the 1B90/CM 7443 are recommended. Just wondering what guys that are flying with a 0-200 have had the best results with. Also if anyone has one for sale.

74-43 is too flat for me, really needs 2 more inches. 69-50 flies fine, but climb definitely suffers. You will be able to find the shorter one more readily available

I doubt that a stock O-200 will turn a 7443 to redline (2750) in straight and level cruise. Not that you really need to anyway...

If you're after low-end pull -- go long and flat -- 7440.

If you're after speed -- go short and coarse -- 7146.

Don't cut a good 74 inch 1B90 to 71 inches. They're too hard to find... sell it and by a 71 inch prop, use the difference for gas.

It will turn redline and only 2 props are approved for the F-19, 74-43 or 69-50

I flew the test flights and have written those up many times..... the 69-50 was off my Cessna 150 ; IT worked , Dorothy bought one. The 74-43 was the "seaplane" prop ; NOT my idea! It worked ; Dorothy bought one.

I am running a 7443, it can easliy over rev in level flight...and a 7538 will really climb....on an F-19 on floats. Tim

Terry, I dont remember, I will check again when I annual this spring. Its been -25 in the Fairbanks area so too cold to do anything. Tim

Check the tach first. Or use a master tach instrument pointed at the prop.

What are your static numbers?

Mine would easily static around 2500 and would easily redline in level flight and go no where, about 115 and felt sluggish in the air if you pulled power back

Hi Everyone

I got my unfinished project (ZS-VHL) with a 7157 mcCauley prop (brand new). It is a '46 BC-12D that will get an O-200 engine. It will be non type certified.

I know for a fact that the aircraft engine and prop has never been togeteher before.

We are 4500 ft AMSL

My question: Can this prop be safely used??

check your static rpm, I think you have too much pitch. Tim

I'm still a few months away from engine installation and will do when I get to that point. I agree, the pitch is quite agressive in comparison with the reccomended and if I had bought a prop, I would propably just have stuck with the reccomended.
Was just wondering if anyone has experimented with something like that.
If i'm the first then I'll post my findings once I get to that point
