  • Bolts for F22A wings.

    Hello All!
First of All nice to meet you all, My name is Archie, I've been lurking and researching the forum lately as I am the proud new (to me) owner of a beautiful F22A G-BWBI (The previous owner was active on here as well which was very useful) I am looking for some advise if anybody could help. My girl was transported here in a rush and once the wings where removed the bolts where chucked in the back. I think I'm okay but by chance would anybody know what AN bolt goes where in regards to mounting the wing to the fuselage and the struts? Bonus points if you know if there is a specific torque strength for each of them.

I'm hoping to share my journey with you all in getting her back up to flying.
In the mean time here she is hangered (wings temporally in place with screwdrivers)

The bolts are in shear, so no excessive torque is required, other than to safety them. Your LAA Inspector should advise.

Thanks Robert, Some people helped me identify the correct parts from the part list as well and thankfully I've ordered the correct ones by the looks of it! Looking forward to overcoming the massive learning curve and getting this girl up to spec again! (With the help from the Inspector!) Watch this space

For what its worth my 21A uses AN5-26 with the step peg on the lower attachment. Front spar wing to fuselage attachment uses AN5-17 with washers and rear spar uses AN-14 with washers. Sometimes I think the factory would use what they had available within reason!

I see you have the cast aluminium tie-down "hoops" at the upper ends of your front wing struts. Don't rely upon those in strong winds; please learn to use them solely as a means of securing a rope around the steel strut itself.

Looking at your photo do your wing tanks vent seperately out the top of the fuselage or wing?
If possible could you please send a photo of it to me?
            Thanks
            Rich
