I just purchased four of these from Fresno, at $47.50 each, (ouch). I was told they were NOS, but they all came in their own new little cardboard boxes. I'm thinking they are new manufacture. If that is the case it would be nice if the threads were correct. I have no idea at this time, though. They were shipped very quickly after I sent them a money order. Here are a couple of pictures of them.

Re: Ercoupe Cups
I did research, here and on other sites, but they all seemed to need to be re-threaded. If they are new manufacture, and I'm hard-pressed not to believe that, they should have them threaded for modern leads. Unless, of course, they are trying to pass them off as NOS.Cheers,
Marty

Re: Ercoupe Cups
I have had a bunch of original ones, they do not need rethreaded, the thread is correct. It is the same nut used on the individual lead harnesses for early mags. Either change the nut on your harness or if new harness is needed, we have had them added when harness was made.
I did not know they had them or making them, good to know. I have had some new caps made for mine that were missing some. $47.50 each is reasonable

Re: Ercoupe Cups
The new harness that I got from UNISON were a perfect fit to my cups. However my cups were defective in that the weld splatter clogged some threads so that I had too run a tap down the threads to clean them. The tap is a standard tap that I purchased from Tool Supply ($37.) My old Bendix harness would not fit the cups.

Re: Ercoupe Cups
Mike and Ron, (and anyone else with experience),
I currently have Bendix mags, but I do not know if I can use shielded leads with the Bendix mags. I am trying to clean up the popping in the radio. The plan is to use shielded plugs in the bottom and the cups on the top. I have a mag switch cover housing and was planning on shielding the mag leads, too, if possible.
The other route is to buy some Slick mags. I have very little knowledge about mags and leads and what will fit and what won't. When I got to that point, ($$$$$), I was going to ask here.
What plugs should I run on the bottom? I cannot remember what I had on my other T-Crafts. And, will the M41 plugs I currently have fit in the cups? What thread do you think is on the cups? (I will try to call Fresno this week to confirm). Thanks!!!Cheers,
Marty

Re: Ercoupe Cups
Mike,
When I was researching the cups I found older posts on the web, plus some here I think, that had the price at $16.00 per cup!Cheers,

Re: Ercoupe Cups
There are 2 lead sizes used in small aircraft today 5/8x24 and 3/4x20. The most common size for the smaller continental powered airplane is the
5/8x24. If you are having to turn the threads down to make them work I would guess that they are the 3/4x20 thread to start with. If you are ordering new leads you could order with that size end. My guess is both sized cups were made, but the ones with the 5/8x24 threads are long gone, and the bigger size is whats left. Tom

Re: Ercoupe Cups
Tom,
The only reason I asked is it seems a lot of people are turning them down. I measured the OD of these threads and they are a hair bigger than 5/8", so the thread would be 5/8" I guess. Which makes me think they are now producing these for the 5/8" threads???Cheers,
Marty

Re: Ercoupe Cups
This is a long time in coming but I did some checking and the guy at Fresno stated the cups have a 11/16" x 24 thread, which I confirmed after the phone call. (I forgot I had a pitch gauge in the garage). He stated they were made for the older elbow style of lead coupling.Cheers,
Marty
