!946 BC12 D with Gilberti/Harer STC. Rebuilt and recovered in 2006. Don's Dream Machine C 85-8 on long mount. Currently flying on 1946 Edo 1320 floats....will go to wheels when water freezes and then federal skis once ice is good to land. I bought the plane about two months ago and have flown it about 40 hours so far. I am based out of Iliamna, Alaska, about 280 miles southwest of Anchorage.

Looks nice! And welcome to the forum!

The C85 mod is a wonderful engine conversion; better than an O-200 installation in my humble opinion.

Jerry, Nice looking setup. Welcome to the Tribe! I probably don't need to mention..."Watch out for East Wind"! 1320's and that big wing can become an interesting combination very quickly.
On the other hand, it will get you out of "Slopbucket" quickly. I would be interested in your take on the Dream Machine setup.
My wife and I were co-owners and operators of Iliaska Lodge, back in the early 70's. (I painted those big white letters on top of the green roof.) I was about 27 yrs. old...am now 69!!
The last picture you posted looks like you were tied to the beach out on "The Point"...Looks like Roadhouse in the background. It's been a long time...my perspective is probably skewed a bit!! Dick

Thanks Dick! The last pic is up at the north end of Lower Tazimina Lake on the east shore at a little creek (up behind roadhouse mountain). Slopbucket and roadhouse strip isn't really used anymore and float operations are on pike lake up near iliamna Airport...which was paved about 7 years ago. I'm flying for Iliamna Air Taxi owned by Tim and Nancy LaPorte...you might have run into them... I think they came out here in 1977 maybe earlier. Yes I am quite familiar with the east wind....specially over at kokhonok. Thomas "Tinny" Hedlund did the rebuild on the plane...you might also have known who he is.

More Illiamna alumni here! I worked for RKL in '89 (if I remember correctly), took care of 3 Otters a Beaver and a 206. I did get to meet Tim and we had a mutual aquaintence, Tal Taylor (Kenmore Air Harbor). Great memories. I'll have to see what pics I have around...I'm sure there's some of the bucket, roadhouse and what we called "eastwind" lake...where we kept our stuff on floats.

Jerry, When you next talk to Tim or Nancy, just sort of mumble, within their hearing... something like..." This is KTD67 calling Six-Two Uniform", and see if either of them do a bit of a double-take...! Tim and Nancy lived next door to us when they were first married. Tim was working on his student ticket! I have heard that Tinny does good work...it looks like it. We have one of Tinny's mom's hand-made dolls sitting on the pump organ in the living room! Lots of good memories. Long time ago!! Only in Alaska...! Dick

Here is a pix of probably the most well-known Taylorcraft from that area...Babe Alsworth on Slopbucket. He used to bring goat's milk for our baby and rubarb.
