Re: Taylorcraft Factory complaint board
The Taylorcraft Factory Complaint Board WILL NOT be censored in anyway...I invite you to post your experience's on it. I worked there every day, and saw the hoards of Pissed off people because of his business practices. Just before I left, There was one job that was at a total standstill for 2 1/2 weeks because we needed a twelve dollar gallon of cheap thinner. My guess is they never got it... Gee, since their moving to Brownsville, it's not but a single step into a forgein country, probably beyond Extridition. Also, The "Two Hundred and fourthy Three thousand square foot warehouse" he's bragging about moving into is Bullshit also. That fiqure represents the total footage of ALL the airport warehousing, Several other business's are there too. Taylorcraft has been allowed a small portion of it, along with a little apron space out front.

Re: Taylorcraft Factory complaint board
Bob,
I'm curious about something. When Harry was supposed to be making me a 21 gallon fuel tank back in late 2003, he ended up shipping me one that obviously came out of another aircraft. It still had dried avgas on the tank, and you could see where the rivits had been drilled out of the tank tabs. Do you know where the tank came from? Obviously there aren't that many Tcraft with the 21 gallon tanks, and I'm afraid that it might have come from another aircraft that was awaiting restoration.Craig Helm

Re: Taylorcraft Factory complaint board
Craig. My best guess it DID come from someone else's airplane... and IM sure it's not the first time... I've already talked to several people who have tore their butts down to pick up their plane in pieces... The parts are strewn all over the place, with no identifying numbers on them.... Bob

Re: Taylorcraft Factory complaint board
Why go to another site? I am not the moderator but the guys who are are fair . They only censored one person who refused to ID themself and was throwing crap on the members. WE have always wanted the TRUTH about what was/is has been going on at LaGrange. There have been a few members that defended/defend Harry for what ever motives but so what. Free press is great. Use this site.
It is fair to say that WE ALL want to see parts resume production. How?

Re: Taylorcraft Factory complaint board
Jim,
At one time there was a policy that negative comments towards the factory were strongly frowned upon. At some point, as more and more people finally came forward with their stories of woe about Harry and company this policy seemed to have been relaxed.
When I first posted about my problems, I received PM's, emails and several posts chiding me for posting anything but good news about the factory. "Give Harry a chance", "Yours is probably in isolated incident", "We all need to help the factory succeed and make Taylorcraft Aviation a success" were just some of the nicer comments. Very few people were willing to actually come forward with the problems they experienced themselves. My guess is that their motives were somewhat selfish; thinking that if they raised a stink themselves, they might NEVER get the parts that had been promised, prepaid but undelivered. Sad thing is, the majority of people coming to Harry's defense had NEVER had any business dealings with him!
When Meg Godlewski of GA News did her article back in December, many people had stories of terrible treatment by the factory, yet NO ONE but myself was willing to go on the record with their experiences. Because of this, the factory was able to go on doing business as usual with most potential customers none the wiser. End result: a lot of people have been burned, and IMHO the Taylorcraft community itself bears much of the blame. If everyone had been open and forthcoming with their experiences, it might have saved a lot of people a lot of money.
Guess I'd better get ready for another slew PM's, posts and emails.Craig Helm

Re: Taylorcraft Factory complaint board
Ken. I think the tank you recieved was from a 1937 model, blue and white, that been sitting next to the paint booth for years? it was another airplane, I believe out of Alabama, that was delivered to be "Restored", most assuredly paid in advance, then torn aprt and left. With the parts being strewn all over sixty thousand square feet warehouse. I feel sorry for the poor souls that havent been down to get their planes yet. Some of the people that have already been down to get their planes, are just grabbing whatever parts they need from stacks of parts, with no identifying numbers on them.... Sounds like a Free for all to me!

Originally posted by Grant S. BaileyI wonder who has been financing this company?
According to the complaint board, the State Attorney General's office is opening an investigation into Harry's business practices. Wonder if that has anything to do with the new location so close to the border?Last edited by CraigH; 05-20-2005, 19:10.Craig Helm

Re: Taylorcraft Factory complaint board
My guess would be everyone who has ordered (but not recieved) parts, those who have prepaid for restorations that were never done, and those who put up deposits on new aircraft... <-------- YOU GOT THAT RIGHT!!.. ALL OF US have been supporting Harry and the Taylorcraft Factory. Craig. You said that Harry told you one time that YOU were in the car business, and YOU KNEW how it was.. Well. How is it? Or, how is it that HE THINKS it is? Bob

Re: Taylorcraft Factory complaint board
It is a shame that this is happening to our beloved Taylorcraft. Maybe it will go into bankrupt and be available for purchase.
If so, then maybe some of you younger souls could get together, and get investors, and do it right.
Start by providing parts and the "Sport Plane" (but without the 40 gal fuel) Back to the orginal BC-12D. Hell it lasted 60 + years and still going. What wrong with that ? If it ain't broke, don't fix it !Lee

Re: Taylorcraft Factory complaint board
I agree Lee, I have had a bunch of different aircraft in the last 30 years, but the one design that has given me more joy than any of the others is my BC 65. I guess that the only reason that that design is not being currently built is that that the A-65 hasn't been built in decades.
As for my admitted rose colored glasses, I was SOOOO.... happy that someone was trying to resurrect the aircraft, I was trying to give Harry all the leeway that I possibly could.
I'm still hoping that someone manages to bring back that the best all around single engine design that was ever built.
