Bittersweet, but mostly happy ending to this story.... just a VERY red face on the owner....

"This missing cub story has a happy ending at least for the cub The cub is home safe and sound. But the dumb ass owner (ME) has egg on his face and will never live this down, but it may not matter as My wife is going to kill me when she catches me. So for every one that owes me a swift kick in the a$$ for being stupid just look for the line at the hanger door and take a number. One kick per custumer and please do not tell my wife where my crampons .


I think I will be Sleeping in a unheated hanger hiding from the mad wife untill she cools down. MY Lesson learned is better remember who you tell that they can borrow your cub no matter how drunk you are when you tell them fly it any time. Also it does not help my case that she does not aprove of who was using the cub.



The cub is back safe and sound. I am the one on the endangered list

Glad it turned out ok. Better to be drinking and let someone borrow your plane then recovering from a night of drinking and wondering where you are, and who's plane is this?

I bet it was a tough one to tell everyone the truth!!! But like was said a few times, it's really great to see how everyone pitched in, passing the word, putting posters up, and keeping their eyes open. Makes me feel just a little bit better about the human race...

It does give you a warm feeling knowing how many different groups turned to and helped look for your bird. There IS hope for us (at least those who hang out at small airports).
Don't worry about the embarrassment, NO ONE will forget the story, but most will forget who it happened to. ;-)

Rotflmfao!!!!!!!! and that's why I always let the owner know anytime I borrow thier stuff no matter how many time they tell just to help myself. My uncle borrowed my trailer once,forgot to tell me he got it, two weeks later he called me about something else and said, "by the way, I forgot to tell ya that I had your trailer and I'll bring it back in a few days unless you need it for something sooner." The funny part is that I always keep it parked between the hanger and the house,have to walk around it every day,several times a day and I hadn't even noticed it was gone. A few weeks later my wife was in the hospital and my cousin knowing that I was gonna be gone for a few days called and asked if he could borrow my truck. I didn't ask what for or why, I just told him the truck was in the driveway with the keys in it and help himself(he didn't specify when he wanted to borrow it or for how long). We returned home from the hospital two or three days later to find my truck gone I called everyone I could think of to see if they might have borrowed it, except my cousin who I knew was at work that day where he has no cell service and I knew he wouldn't be using it while he was a t work:rolleyes2:. So I reported the truck stolen. You must understand that I live in a small town where most everyone knows me and the few who don't know me - do know my truck,it's rather distinctive and really stands out. Later that night I got a call from my cousin to ask me if I would be kind enough tell the rather stubburn jail officer that my truck was not in fact stolen, or at least come down and bail his wife out of jailops: I did have some explaining to do and most of it was to my cousins wife,lol. My cousin knew I was going to be in the hospital with my wife for a few days and thought that would be a perfect time to borrow my truck so he could have his wife's car put in the body shop for some deer damage repair. Just so happened she was driving my truck because she hated driving my cousin's ratty old work truck that didn't have a working A/C or a back seat for the kids. I always took her for a very religous catholic lady until then, and I think she still goes to confession everyday because of the things she said to me that night .....then she wouldn't speak to me at all for about 6 months....of course the following weekend my cousin and I went fishing and were laughing about it over a cold one. His wife still doesn't find any humor in it at all.

The bright spot in my day!!! Great story , kind of like my brother-in-law one time....... The story involves yours truly ( hotshot pilot & biker) my wife of 47 years , Patty Sue ; a Dream Honda 305 , riding double on New Years Eve 1965 when Patty was pregnant with daughter Mary .
Rumor has it that after someone ( me) borrowing the bike , it was seen going down the hallways of the City Hall in Alliance, Police Deparment ; and out the back door..... somebody got the plate number ; It had to be reported stolen of course.

Hid the bike, walked back to party , more drinks , lots of back slapping , found bike two days later ; very mysterious situation . "John Barleycorn " was certainly involved .
GREAT ENDING.
