  • Now what can I do?

Speaking of not racing my Camaro anymore. I sold it to a young fella (compared to me.) the other day and was just thinking about what I could do to the Taylorcraft to put some of the cash to good use.

I spent some time thinking about it and could not for life of me think of anything that would make it perform better if I replaced it. I mean, everything works well.

I've been flying it, and improving and working on it in the years since I got it, and as a final item I recently repositioned the radio to where I could read the indicators easily, and that pretty much did it.

How often do you get to feel that way about a device that does something as incredible as soaring through the air with you on board.

Sounds like all you need to add to your Taylorcraft is a right hand seat occupant who enjoys it as much as you do!

Well it does have shortcomings. Because of only being certified for 1200 gross and being heavy I can't haul a passenger if I wished. I would not anyway as I am flying as a Light Sport Pilot because I have atrial fibrillation. Never bothers me unless I am doing stressful exercise or work, but I don't want to risk someone's life on the even remote chance of a problem.

The plane is probably due for a complete rebuilt one of these days as, for example, the fabric has way too many coats of "dope" on it and overall the entire plane is showing it's age. Even so, I think I will leave that for the next owner.

Considering what I paid for it though, and how well it performs overall, it is a dream machine (now.)

Sometimes a combination of good fortune and hard work pay off.

OK, so you need a REALLY LIGHT right hand seat occupant who is a pilot too and enjoys flying LSA planes.

My Parrot weighs less than 4# and she LOVES to fly. Better pilot than I ever will be.

By the way, my mother has atrial fibrillation and has had it for decades. She is in her 80s. Scares the Doctors to death and she never has a problem. Like most of us, you will probably exit this life at the bumper of a city buss or a drunk driver.
