I saw that last week on j3-cub.com. Nice landing, but is the pond long enough to get it out?

Someone suggested they were bringing it in to change the floats to wheels.

I too enjoyed the video of the Cub landing on the water. But I cringed when I watch the guy taxiing back while standing on the right float. What do you think would have happened if the float had struck the edge of the pond or a submerged stump? From what I saw, it looked like he would have been thrown forward into the prop.

He was too cool for that to happen

I'm led to believe it is indeed a float-to-wheel conversion place...but whomsoever was the pilot on that particular flight had done it many times before on that stretch of water.

Only an observation but.... The idiot standing on the float while its moving is really not only a show off but a real dimwit. Fairbanks farms (Goose Creek Aviation) has this same set up in Western NY State near Jamestown. They go in and out often in a super cub. About the same length. JC

Yup after the sideslip to touchdown and the water drag kicked in it was full up elevator to work the water breaks--pilot knew what was needed and I'm pretty damn sure he and his passenger knew the water hazards
