Here is a pic of the floats I made for my Pietenpol Sky Scout. Sold the Scout. Hope to finish the floats someday and put them under something. Will be planked with 1/16 sitka ala herringbone.

Re: 840#'s
Darryl,
The floats are my own design and a compilation of several proven designs. The formers and stations are 1/4" aircraft ply. The stringers are sitka spruce. I planked the first bottom "herringbone" with 3/16" basswood. The bottom planking(planing surfaces) will be 1/16 sitka 2" wide. I will skin the uppers with 1/32 ply and then ceconite. All the stringers were steamed before fitting to formers. Fun project.MIKE CUSHWAY

Re: 840#'s
Thanks for the information. Fine wood work. I have always been quite taken with wood aircraft. I guess my favorite is the DH Mosquito. It is a fantasy project to make a 3/4 replica using two blown small bock chevrolet engines. Maybe wood/composite.
