  • Martin Mars

Not that this is anything close to a Taylorcraft but I thought a few of you might be interested in seeing the video that I posted of a Martin Mars doing a demonstration water drop in Vancouver last week. I played hookey from work for an hour and walked down to Canada Place to watch this. This is one (Hawaii Mars) of the last two Martin Mars left in service. Truely an amazing flying boat.

On the approach to the harbour for the water drop, the hotel you see on the right is the place where Howard Hughes spent the last years of his life. I am sure he would have been looking on if he were still alive today.

    Here is the link.

One of the better Martin Mars sequences I've seen, and all stolen from the interweb:

            (From John Doran)

Here's a few unique photos of the Mars. Thanks to Rob Lees for helping me post these. I'm located about 15 air miles from the former Martin factory where the plane was originally made. These photos were taken last year when the Martin Museum went up to Canada in the hopes of getting one of the two remaining Mars back in Baltimore. I have more photos if anyone is interested in seiing anything in particular.
