Re: Possible solution for hot starts
When I was working for the Navy on the A-6 the F-14 group was still providing support for the Shaw's planes (remember, they were allies then). They had a serious problem with the weapons system on one plane the NADEP and Grumman guys were researching and while the reps awaited data the Iranian Air Force mechanics towed the problem aircraft to the far end of the field and parked it facing away from the rest of the planes and put all kinds of small packages around it. None of our guys went close enough to see exactly what they were doing but the Iranian guys said they were "punishing" the plane for its behavior by taking it away from the rest of its "friends"
When the data came in they towed the plane back and the reps fixed it but the Iranians always claimed it was their punishment that made the plane behave.

And we are worried about fighting these guys? In the "WAR" part of the fight we will walk all over them, just like Iraq. We need to just LEAVE after we break all their toys. We don't seem to be very good at nation building any more. Maybe we should learn from Japan. If you want to dominate part of the world, the economic machine is more effective than the war machine.
