one more from me.....this is the tagline from an old flying movie (the original one sheet is hanging on my wall):

"Zooming Thru By Sheer Grit!... To Regain Their Lost Honor... and Lost Love!"V

You're pretty good when you can quote lines from a SILENT film!! When I was in aeronautics out at San Jose State around 1970 they had a showing of the film in an old theatre down town and the guy that played the organ for the premiere sp? of the original movie played the whole score. Didn't know you could make an organ sound like a machine gun...

The Lost Legion....? I'll have to do some more research to come up with something to stump you all. Somebody else jump in here

Close enough! "Legion of Lost Flyers" is the answer.
I've seen Wings 3 or 4 times. Did I mention I'm a big movie buff?

Man, you guys are good. The last few stumped me, to my horrific embarrassment.

        So try this one:

Man, we're heading into some esoteric stuff now! I've been stumped by the last three, but then again I'm just a young pup of 44.

Don't worry... the last one I posted was a fairly well known aviation movie made during WW2. The silent film stuff is out of my league somewhat too

Another great movie! Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo. The Doolittle raid.

I'm still researching my next one, (heh heh). Somebody else got one?

Ok, this isn't the big stumper, but just to tide you over, try this: " You always hit that note sour."

Not really a movie about airplanes, but an airplane plays a crucial part in the plot development.

Hmmmmm......I guess you did come up with a real poser on this one. I have no idea what movie that line is from.

                    Re: Name the film...

Sorry.......... didn't mean to stop the thread ;-( 'Here Comes Mr. Jordan' the original Heaven Can Wait. Promising boxer flys his plane (been awhile... maybe a Ryan Brougham or Curtiss Robin??) around to the different fights. Plays his saxaphone while flying along, always same song, hits the same note bad every time. Comes in handy later when he takes on another body. Great movie if you can find it. Not much airplane footage, but fun.

                      Re: Name the film...

Good one! That's an excellent film starring Robert Montgomery....a huge star in his day who's largely (and unfairly) forgotten.

I should have guessed that one. I remembered the scene the second I read your post.

OK, OK... this one is not that difficult, but it is a moment of silly humor in a truly classic aviation film... in color !

Quote from Mike Forney (Mickey Rooney), helicopter pilot, who wears a top hat while flying rescue missions off aircraft carrier in 'Bridges at Toko-Ri'. Good book too. Theme kind of a reflection of the reserve call-up we've been witnessing lately........
