Well guys, this time it is US ! At least as close as I want to be. We are getting ready to leave now. It is Friday, Sep 23 2005; 10:45 AM. Winds have picked up and the rain is really comming down.

My hangar and land around will more than likely flood. My home is high and should be high enough. But, the winds may do damage. Will not know until late tomorrow.

Looks like the most likely land fall will be about Port Arthur TX and that will give Lake Charles LA; and us Lafayette/New Iberia LA.

    Will write more later.

Thank Kevin. The wind just blew the rest of my wife's green house away. Oh well something else to do. As long as we are ok we can always replace Things.

that I 45 traffic was at our front door here in The Woodlands. Spent the day pullign breakers and shutting down equipment at Greenspoint hoping we can recover it after this passes. Switch site packed in with sand bags.

No Gas anywhere around here since Wenesday. everything else ok so far, looks like we got very lucky. Neighborhood collected water and food for the people that got stranded her with no gas.

Got room here for any of you that need a temporary nest.

                Re: Rita

Rita was bad in the Lake Charles LA / Beaumont TX area. Here we have seen much worse. Was not good, but could have been worse. Lost the roof off my hangar, a couple of oak trees. Shame it wasn't those at the end of my runway, but rather the ones in my yard. A few shingles off my roof, my garage and a few minor things, but our families are all okay.

Doesn't look like the "yellow duck" was touched. However, the winds and rain are still here. Sat. 13:30 cst Sep 24,2005. Will be able to check things out better tomorrow.

Anyone in the Port Arthur, Lake Charles, Jennings, Jasper, Reklaw, are in real trouble. This is where the storm passed. I don't have hangar space, but I do have room to tie down outside if anyone needs that. I am 10 miles due south on the 180 deg rad of the LFT VOR. 1700 ft of grass strip. If you need the space for a while. Contact me here or call @ 337-367-0070.

Could have been much worse, we were saved again.

                    Re: Rita

yep, looks like we will have a delayed flooding. Just received the word that a lake neat us is raising now and is up 10 ft higher. When the flood rus off it will be comming here. So I will pull the "Duck" out and tie it n my front yard, which is about 10-12 ft higher than my hangar.

Good to hear this one wasn't as bad as feared........still tough on airplanes and hangars though. It's severe clear here in the NW, we haven't had a really bad storm since 1962!!
Dumb question, but how does a person post a new thread on this forum?

Go to the top of this page and you'll see the word 'Rita' which is the name of this thread. Go back one step to "Rant and Raves". You'll see a button saying "New Thread". If you want to go to another forum, keep moving backward. - MIke
