I find it completely stupidifying how a C-150 can be considered a threat. I think our security infrastructure needs to get a serious clue.
Having said that, It appears on my GPS that the ADIZ is marked. There is no reason to bust that airspace (although it shouldn't be there in the first place).

I have a question. A C150 will cruise @ 95mph. It got to within 3 miles of the whitehouse. How did it get that close at that speed before anything was done? I guess it was a good thing it was not a Lear or Gulfstream. It could have gotten to the whitehouse before someone woke up!!!Best Regards

Not nice, but now we know the radar system works. So why not give him a steakdinner.
Was this a test of the System? or plane stupidety?
Remember the fellow what landed a 172 on the Red Square and it was the first they know of him.

Well, the Secret Service is finished with them, but I'lll bet the FAA would like a word. Since they were well within the ADIZ, I'll bet they got authorization to enter (xpnder code), but the instructor turned down the volume.
Why the Blackhawks were unsuccessful is a good question, but the F-16 and their flares must have made an impression (see Attachment). Wonder what their logbook entry will look like?- MIkeLast edited by mhorowit; 10-23-2005, 12:02.Mike Horowitz

Wow!
Washington Post reported yesterday the Blackhawks came alongside, held up a sign telling them what freq to use, then established contact.
Then the Cessna pilot begins to argue with the Blackhawk!

They're worried about two bozos in a Cessna 150? Have any of you seen the latest in radio controlled model airplanes... pure turbojet engines flying 6 foot span delta wing fighters at WELL over 200 mph. The ragheads could easily put some bio weapon or poison gas in one of those, program the GPS to fly it into the senate building or wherever, and not even have to be anywhere near the attack. At 200 mph+, this would have been twice as fast as the Cessna, a lot harder to see on radar, a lot harder to hit with ground to air weapons, and nobody would be able to scare it away. It could be launched from the back of a truck, no airport needed.
Hell, even a specialized artillery mortar or a small Howitzer could lob a bio weapon for a few miles. Hobbyists can build model rockets using off the shelf parts and powerplants that could fly several miles in a ballistic arc. The gun barrel from a tank could be used to build a long range truck mounted mortar, and with fairly simple computer programs and aiming systems, this could be fired from a truck from anywhere.
A Cessna or Taylorcraft should be fairly low on the list of things that Homeland Security or whoever should be worrying about.
