  • "The Cremation of Sam McGee"

This rather macabre poem, by Robert W Service, formed part of my early Taylorcraft learning in the 1990s, for reasons I don't recall. Probably through a friendship with Alaskan and northern Canadian Taylorcraft flyers. I used to know it from memory, and could recite it in a very broad Scots accent, which made it sound more gutteral, och-aye!.

For my old time's sake, it is worth repeating here, it's such a comedy! In this case it's a 2011 Youtube rendition by Johnny Cash:

The classic Robert Service poem is read by Johnny Cash. Audio is from "Personal File: Bootleg 1." Paintings by Ted Harrison.

Always a favorite of mine! I didn't know that Johnny Cash had recorded this though. Thanks for posting!
