I need a reality check, please, nothing to do with Taylorcraft or Continentals or little Lycomings. Hence the post here in Rants & Raves. (It's neither a rant or a rave, just asking opinion from experienced folk here).
I'm servicing a bog-standard fuel-injected Lycoming engine. It has injectors like the attached photo.
I also attach two pictures of the September 2008 Lycoming Service Instruction (SI) on injectors.
Figure 2 (see attachment) apparently shows the common injector for a lot of Lycoming engines.
Step 6 (see attachment) , it talks about how to orient the injector.
My injectors have never looked like the 2008 SI, and this is a 1984 engine. Mine have a shroud and a gauze.
Am I missing something?
