I hear you! I keep my plane at home in the valley, but rent a spot at Merrill Field when I commute with it in the summer. Last year I was paying a $75 tax in the Mat-Su Borough AND getting hit with another $75 by the Municipality of Anchorage! I pitched a fit with the Mayor's office, but to no avail. This year the MatSu Borough did away with the stupid tax, but I still had to pay the Anchorage tax.

Yeah, you certainly have more cause to be upset, I've simmered down a bit. If you park 121 in Anchorage more then 60 days out of the year, they hit you with the tax, that's a bummer but it's cool you commute that much. I'm not surprised you didn't get anywhere trying to reason with the city. I was told to join Alaska Airmen's Association as they've been effective at bringing down these 'registration fees'. It's an outright luxury tax which I'm sure many local governments leverage. I have friends out at Anderson Lake Wasilla, private strip, that were getting hit with the same tax. What service does the taxing entity provide for this fee? They muni has no answer to that.

My brother has had planes up in Kotzebue for 15 years and never gotten hit with a tax.

Just cover your N-number and dataplate, that really pisses them off. Tim
