    Re: Carb Adjustment

There is an idle mixture adjustment for the NAS-3. It is the large brass, knurled slotted screw, that angles downward toward the camera in the picture. It will be toward the rear when installed on your engine. A common problem that will give indications of running rich is that the float gets out of adjustment, or stuck. It can also fill up with fuel and not float as it should. The screw only adjusts the mixture while at idle. If it doesn't solve your problem, you may have a stuck or out of adjustment float. Thank Terry Bowden for the picture. I did a search for idle mixture, and his post with this picture came up first.

In short, the mixtures suck on those carbs, most were wired open to full rich back in the day. The idle mixture is the only thing you can adjust. Tim

Ray was the carb on a engine that has run for a long time or is it new and running rich if so is it for a 65 or one of the other continental engines that the strombergs were used on as there are a lot of difference jets, air bleed ,venturis that will make one run rich. Chuck
