Any one know what was used to attach the door handles to the shaft on a BC 12 D door? it looks like you could use an expasion pin but it will be a bear to get it in and harder to get it out

Re: BC12 D Door handels
My first BC-12 had roll pins, yes they are a bear to get in and out. Try to get the right size so it isn't too tight. My current BC-12 had turned down welding rod, which worked, but I changed out to roll pins.Cheers,

Re: BC12 D Door handels
Not sure what was used for pins originally, but several old doors I tried to get handles off of for people had what looked like cut off nails. The steel nail had some corrosion from being in contact with the pot metal handle and many could NOT be removed. When I have time I will probably make a press fixture to push then out but I expect to break a handle or two getting it right. If I was putting a handle ON a plane I would make the pin a slip fit AFTER being painted (hole and pin) and then use a drop of Loctite to hold it in. Just spray a couple of extra coats to get it snug. You can get the Loctite to let go with a drop of Acetone later if you need to remove the handle.
