  • might become FBO owner

Long story ends with I may become operator of a local FBO. Looking here for help in areas of services that are considered must have and those that are not. Also would be interested in unique forms of income aside from fuel sales and maint.

This airport does receive funding so it must have fuel available 8-5 7days...does having a self serve function or call out option on sundays satisfy this requirement??

We do have regular turbine traffic.....few a week. Is there anything that this crowd has seen as a unique service that they would pay for or wished they had?

Hi Eric! I owned and operated a small FBO for several years, and worked at another as a CFI and charter pilot for a few more, plus have flown puddle jumpers and coorporate turbine aircraft around the country. And I led a group trying to get a contract recently to operate the FBO at KAOO, in my back yard; our group lost out due to local politics. I'd be glad to exchange some thoughts on things with you. Best might be to call me 814-414-3775 -Paul Nuss

I used to fly into Brokenstraw airport, (near Warren, Penna.) No one around....ever! The door to the lounge was open, otherwise no one. You could get gas but only if you had one of THEIR special credit cards. I didn't go back. Having kicked around small airports for 50 years I would recomend 1. a GOOD mechanic, preferably YOU. (thats where the money is if there is any.) Are you a CFI?Who owns the airport, do THEY mow it and plow it (IE: county?) and on and on and on. Be very careful! Its a tough economy and not many are flying like they were! JC

Well Eric, if you need a prop balancer, scales or thermal imager, I may be able to work out a deal. Tim
