  • Taylorcraft vs. Cub vs. Champ

OK guys! Here is your chance to tell the world how great our Taylorcrafts are. This website is conducting a poll to find out whether the general public prefers the Cub, the Champ, or the Taylorcraft.

THE CURRENT POLL IS GROSSLY OFF BASE.

    Piper J-3 Cub (181 votes) - * 35.08%

    Aeronca 7AC Champ (294 votes) - * 56.98%

    Taylorcraft BC12D (41 votes) - * 7.95%

    Total Votes : 516

Of course WE ALL KNOW the answer and anyone who disagrees with us just has not really given the Taylorcraft a real look.

Without a doubt, there is no better value, fun, safety, utility, speed, in a 65 - 100 hp airplane than a Taylorcraft. So everyone go out and flood this poll to set them all straight!

Re: Taylorcraft vs. Cub vs. Champ

Obviously someone is voting multiple times for their favorite aircraft. I cannot believe the Cub is behind, the cultists apparently are not aware of this poll.

Terry, you used those dreadful words "General Public"

Cub will win every time. Even a Cessna passing overhead at 5000 feet is a "Cub" to the great unwashed.

Aye...! In the early days of Snow machines Skidoos led the pack. Do you have a Skidoo?(snowmobile) was a common question.

Re: Taylorcraft vs. Cub vs. Champ

Well, the site does say if someone were to give me one which would you choose. To be totally truthful I would have to say the Cub. Why-because it is worth the most for resale. Then I could sell it and buy more Taylorcraft stuff! Actually I would probably fly the Cub, or Champ for a while if someone were to give me one then sell it later. No way would I trade my Taylorcraft for one but a guy can always use more than one airplane. They are all good in differnt ways!

I say we should all have one of each. I like most old planes. The Champ is extremely popular right now, but I think it's my least favorite, with the Cub being second. I used to love Cubs, but climbing in is a pain and the front seat is way too small. I'm sure enjoying flying my friend's Luscombe though and it's not on the list!

I AGREE! The Luscombe is a GREAT airplane, especially the later F with the siflex gear and 90 hp! I think they are all great airplanes. I have had a cub, (very boring) two T-Crafts, (Fun but needs at least an 85hp) Champ, had an 85hp, mccauley prop which was great fun. The front seat of the cub is like the back seat of a Porsche, worthless. Visability in the Champ is excellent and like the T-Craft, very docile. JC

My favorite would be a dual seat T-Craft, clip wing with 90-100 hp. JC

Me too. I'm voting in the only meaningful way... With my wallet. I'm looking for an LSA and was looking at some Champs and Chiefs. But I found myself always using some derogatory term when I talked about them and finally realized I should just focus on Taylorcraft because that's what I really wanted. I'm still looking for a recent restoration and am planning to look at one this weekend. If it pans out my "vote" could be finalized next week.
