Just wondering does any one know , If you hold a private pilot certificate with a current medical, and fly a sport pilot aircraft , are you required to carry you medical certificate with you , or can you fall on the ruling that says you only need a current driver licence and nolonger need a medical, providing you fly day VFR ? and are following the sport pilot rules ?

Re: Sport pilot rules
Walter, you have it right. If you are flying an aircraft that meets the requirements of a Light Sport Aircraft under CFR 1.1, and are the holder of a pilot certificat greater than a Sport Pilot certificate. You may fly the aircraft without a medical certificate as long as you meet the eligibility requirements of CFR 61.3 and have a valid state issued drivers license in your possession and fly under the privileges and limitations of CFR 91.315. Re: Sport pilot rules
Old Chinese saying? The Emperor is far away and God is far above, the question is whether the FAA in cutting back on personnel? Chuckle.
Or to put it another way; what are they going to do? Shoot you?
Anyone heard any additional news on the latest Sport Pilot recommendations by the EAA/AOPA?
